Very quietly, the Heroes scurry into the side corridor by the lockers, darting past the caretaker.
“Celly, Mini,” whispers Remotely, “hide behind that rubbish bin, but make sure you have a clear view of the entrance.” “Paddy, you and I will climb onto the lockers so we can video from the top.”
“But it’s so high!” says Paddy, nervously.
“Follow me and don’t look down.” Remotely’s tone is firm, but reassuring.
Suddenly, the morning bell pierces the silence.
“Quick! To your positions!” yells Remotely, barely audible above the bell.
The Heroes scramble to their stations. Celly messages the Goog to inform him that they are in position … and waiting. He replies instantly with “Wax Valiant!”
Suddenly, the noise of the students quickly rises to a deafening roar as they pour from the classrooms into the hallways. Kids are yelling, shoving, and laughing. What a commotion!
Shortly after, they spot Jacob with his head down, looking troubled as he slowly ambles toward his locker to get his textbooks for maths class.
Suddenly, “Hey GOODMAN! … You weirdo! Ready for another round of ‘spot-the-loser’!?” mocks a scornful voice above the noise. “Where are all your friends? Oh, I forgot … you don’t have any … .hahahaha.”
And there he is – Terrence Turner, or Scary Terry as he’s been nicknamed amongst the younger students, although no one would dare say it to his face. The scourge of the freshmen walks menacingly towards Jacob flanked by his weedy sidekick Leon, and Terry’s even scarier girlfriend, Violet. The other kids scatter knowing some trouble is about to go down in the locker room. Jacob is left alone with his nemesis.
“Quick, start recording.” Commands Remotely, as he eyes his team, but Paddy, Celly, and Mini are already on to it.
